The Great Car Debate (Minivan vs. SUV)

This weekend Aunt Trisha, Uncle Jason, and Uncle Garrett kept the girls for us while we went car shopping. It was win-win for everyone. We got a peaceful day to look at cars, and the girls got to see some of their favorite relatives. The girls love their Aunt and Uncles!!!! Thanks so much to them for helping out!!!
The time has come when my beloved Accord will no longer fit our family. I suppose I could squeeze all 3 girls across the back seat, but I think we can all guess how well that would work. Three girls under the age of five... mushed in the same tiny space... fighting over the Barbie of the moment (never mind that there are 5 other Barbies to choose from)... I think we definitely need to spread out a little.
We were actually able to narrow our choices down to our final two. (That's huge considering how indecisive I am!) We love the Toyota Highlander and Honda Odyssey... both for different reasons. The Highlander drives like a car, isn't too big, and has three rows. Sadly the storage and cargo room is lacking. The Oddysey has tons of storage and cargo room, but it is a minivan. For some of you this is not such a big deal, but for me, every time I think about driving it, all I can think is "stupid minivan." I know, I know... I'm such a car snob. Gas mileage and price is about the same, so that doesn't really sway me one way or the other. Anyways, I'm reaching out to all of you for your thoughts... SUV or minivan? Help!!!!

I love my SUV. We have the Tahoe. Yes, it's big and gas is outragous but I would do it again. Good luck.

I still love our Honda Pilot. It has 3 rows, but we never use the third one because we have only 2 kids! But, even when the third row is up, there is a little cargo room left. There would not be room for a stroller, though, when the third row is up.

um, you know my vote. I too am a car snob but my SUV is killing us on gas! Vans for sure get better gas milage! (If you can't tell, I'm trying to convince myself as well!) good luck with your decision!

What a hard decision. I had a pilot before we moved and loved it. Wes and I have vowed never to get a mini-van, but we will see if we keep that if/when we have a 3rd. Does the Highlander have air conditioning in the back seat now. They did not when we looked a few years ago and that was the only reason we did not buy one. I really liked it though.

SUV!!!!! Marti doesn't completely share my opinion, but I drove my mom's minivan for years in high school and as needed college and just can't get over the post traumatic stress!!

We have a Honda Pilot and love it. Oh, the great debate! Jason is a car snob too... but with only 2 kids, the Pilot has been a great fit for us.

Be a leader, go for the Minivan. That way when one of the rest of us gets one, you can rub it in. They come with Poker tables now too. Luke
