Ice Ice Baby

So the ice has come to Jonesboro. We watched for 2 days as the rain steadily poured over our city. As it rained and the temperature dropped, ice formed over everything that wasn't in motion. For awhile it looked so pretty... then our trees started snapping in half, and our woods sounded as if someone was in a gunfight. We are lucky because our house sits far enough from the woods that we were not in any real danger. The trees just broke halfway up the trunk and dropped into our yard. Our poor neighbors both had trees leaning on their roofs when we left town yesterday. I am hopeful for them that nothing further fell. We had planned to stick it out in Jonesboro, but just as I was feeling smug that we still had power, out went the lights. We spent the day in front of the fireplace (the girls were watching it like it was TV), and finally gave it up. Three cold, bored, and cranky girls=very grouchy parents. We are lucky enough to have Trisha and Jason down in Searcy, so we have been roasty, toasty since we arrived here. What a difference driving an hour south can make... no ice at all! We have heard that power is finally back on in our neighborhood, so later tonight we will head home. It will be interesting to see what we find...

I'm sorry about the inconvenience, and the breaking trees, but those are beautiful pictures!

finally we got power...but it is flickering. I'm not buying groceries for a few days just to make sure...

Ice on trees are beautiful but that's the extent of it's beauty. Glad you all are ok.

It has been crazy, hasn't it? I don't blame you, if we hadn't had the generator or heat.....I would have been fleeing south as well!

Is Caroline's finger actually in Bailey's eye?
